Our Pre-Mexican Fiesta: Part 1 of our adventures to Mexico and beyond

I've decided to return to my old technique of breaking my reports of our adventures into smaller chapters, which hopefully will prevent the several month delay in updating this blog that I have been struggling with lately.  So, here, in pieces, is our Mexican Adventure.

And you can't start a Mexican Adventure from London, without first going to one of the fabulous London airports...in this case, Heathrow.  While we're still on the expat package, Jim's company gives us one flight a year home in business class.  Our business class days are numbered, so we took full advantage of the situation by making a big mess in the Heathrow business class lounge:

But the people who worked in the lounge, used to intense business travelers, were very nice and friendly and gave the girls coloring books and didn't seemed bothered by the trail of destruction we left behind us.

Watching airplanes, while we waited for ours:

The first stop on our trip to Mexico was Houston, where we celebrated Evie's birthday.  Nana made Evie a very special pink, heart cake (as requested) and Evie helped decorate it with lots of sprinkles.

Evie, the beautiful Birthday Princess!  3 years old!

And her number one fan: the beautiful Millie!

Nana and Papa put a lot of effort into making this a really fun birthday, starting with the decorations!  Millie even got her own birthday party loot.

A birthday accomplishment: peddling the trike for the first time!

There was a jet lag fueled, birthday present opening frenzy:

Followed by a delicious birthday dinner of Nana's famous Chicken Lasagna, which was enjoyed by all:

Jim was in party mode:

Evie, the birthday princess, was anticipating her fabulous birthday cake. And it did not disappoint!
Jenna and Aunt Mendy came along to celebrate, too!
All good things must come to an end. A tired birthday girl headed to bed. I wish I could say that everyone was so tired after the fun that they slept long and hard, but that would be a lie.  Such is the nature of jet lag and children.

But who needs sleep when you're heading off for a week in Mexico, right?  Off we went, back to the airport, the next morning.  Everyone was in a happy mood!

And we were on our way to Mexico!
